It´s the main entrance to the city through the old roman road. It was built in the 12th century. Its exterior part still preserves part of the old wall.

There is an inscription that says : “ Era: M: CC: LV: IN TEMPLO AF:” It means : “ Era 1255 ( 1217) in the reign of Alfonso ( Alfonso IX de León)

It´s the oldest written testimony that preserves in the city. In the inner part there is an altarpiece of St.Christ of Protection that dates from the 18th century.
