It was built in the 15th century in the reign of Richard IV over the estuary of Vivero. It´s also called the Major Bridge.

It´s said that it was built on the top of an old Roman bridge. Nowadays due to several remodellings, three of its twelve original arches are buried by the construction of the pier and later of the quay and gardens.
