It´s the nerve centre of the city. The missing St.James church was situated there. The square is dominated by the image of Nicomedes Pastor Díaz that was a famous writer and politician of the city. He was considered one of the best poet in the 19th century. This monument was unveiled in 1891.

Among its main buildings we can admire the Town Hall with its artistic sundial. The house of Chemist´s was the old Rectory of St.James until the 19th century and in front of it “ Canto of St.James” remembers us the place where was situated the temple.
